Four giant exhaust manifolds rise up at London Waterloo station.
I imagine the cylinders as a giant's wind pipe, and the great volume of the this 150 year old station interior where I stand, its lungs, I feel as a small moment of dust, still within.
I am reminded of my childhood when I wathed on a platform at a station far along the line from here, as steam trains thundered past and spewed their deafening puffs of sound and soot into the air.
I enjoy the shapes and scale of made objects. Industrial design often presents repetition of form and texture not found in the natural world.
