Take Flight

Take Flight

As I gaze at this work my mind and feelings wonder. I enjoy the physical sensations of texture, light, colour, and tone. I ponder on its form, and as I do so, its meaning as implied by its title. I think of how taking flight may be a positive move to action. When we take, we reach for, then hold. We take control. When a bird is in the air it drives forward and up before looking down from a fresh perspective.

I think of myself at the same altitude as the bird. I am with the bird rather than looking up and from afar as an onlooker. The bird is full with beauty, its expression, serene.
